I think that Isabellas view on slang is biased and one sided. It doesn’t show both sides of the story. I disagree with Isabella Kerr because slang is just another form of communication used by a the younger generation and even older mostly to save time and to show that the person they are talking/texting to are close with each, so they don’t have to talking formally like to stranger.
Language is used differently at different times, between different people because you wouldn’t talk to your teacher or someone older than you with slang because, they wouldn’t understand and they would think the person using it wasn’t smart. So you would have to talk formally using proper English. We talk differently in different locations because we don’t want to be disrespectful or rude for example you would talk to your mum like the way you would talk to your friends because your friends understand and can read what you mean while your mum wouldn’t undertsand. Is influenced by different cultures and represents different levels of formality.
And in this article By isabella she says “Regardless, the future of the English language looks bleak.” Which isn’t true because without slang, the English Language wouldn’t gain or lose any words and just stay the same constantly. So by saying that using slang is making the English language look bleak is just a lie. Also by saying “the dictionary needs a reality check.” Is saying that the people who make the dictionary have no idea on what they are doing. The dictionary only adds or remove words from it, if they no one uses them or if loads of people use them and then it’s added, so people and look it up and check up on what they word means and learn about the culture. So by having the word “twerking” in there shouldnt make the dictionary or the English language look bad because it’s only a word in which loads of people use
- hope that my generation is not remembered for being responsible for removing all the vowels from ‘seriously’. I can’t imagine Countdown is too happy about that decision either.

- And I’m not alone. Some young Twitter users have expressed their rejection of the new words ( biased tweets )
